City of Peterborough Squash and Racketball Club was founded in the 1970’s. We currently have two teams playing in the Cambridgeshire Squash Leagues, with a busy internal league structure. Following a committee restructure in 2019, the newly appointed chairman, Neil, along with help from the committee, has worked tirelessly to improve the club drastically, with all courts undergoing much-needed renovations, a new lighting system implements, and a membership increased from 120 to 160. The club is a bustling hive now and the club is on track to being one of the best clubs in Cambridgeshire, thanks to these efforts.

There are currently 4 squash courts, all wall-backed with glass-doors, however there is very limited viewing. From about 4pm onwards, all 4 courts are booked solid until around 8pm, with everyone played Squash and Racketball and having a great time. However, despite the recent successes at the club, there is the need to get a 5th court. With four courts, the club has reached its capacity and is in desperate need of funding to help with the next phase of growth.

The original court foundations from the 1970 is still on the premises although is in need of much repair due to not being used for squash since 1995. Our plan is to add a glass-back viewing area sitting up to 75 spectators, with a small room for meetings or tournament set-up, and accessible disabled access. Upon completion, the club will be able to accommodate more members, including young players and people that haven’t had the chance to play squash yet. It will also make the sport more inclusive and give the opportunity to access squash courts. There will be room to hold Professional Squash events to showcase the sport to the public, to hold Cambridgeshire County Squash Events, as well as other tournaments.

We are looking to raise £40,000 to complete our 5th court and improve existing structures so that we can continue to grow as a club. Any small amount will help the club keep improving and be used to make the club reach its full potential.
